“Caught”
Caught between two realities
Beneath the surface, feelings
Rushing, twisting, churning
Or perhaps standing still.
Caught in feelings of turmoil;
Have I matured or spoiled?
What is my self really,
Deep down to the core?
A tree of life bursting forth,
Basking in the sun of sport,
Living a life of meaning,
Touching others?
Or a tree scarred and dying?
Others look away, crying.
The pain they caused
Persuaded a moving on.
Caught rather in feelings of stability,
Maybe I’m firm in another reality.
Will they know the whole story,
The truth hidden in glory?
What appears to be is not;
What is appears not to be.
Will this wreck me utterly
Or engraft me to the tree?
