Outside, there is a breeze,
But it is over eighty degrees.
There’s a crick forming in my neck
From the day’s strenuous yard work.
I’m trying hard to rest some
Before our company comes.
I’ll grill hot dogs and burgers,
Then later we’ll play board games.
The lawn stands as my great accomplishment.
But, my energy is gone, and I’m completely spent.
Oh Lord that I may, with your help, with all my might,
Stay awake to eat, talk, laugh, and play this lovely night.
