(Painting by Andrei Rublev in the 15th Century entitled “The Trinity”)
“Communion”
There’s a knife I relate to
The cloth that covers
The elements for
Communion
Folded
Sharp
As the
Scarlet
Blood of
The Lamb
Taking away
Our sins, mine
And yours, even
Bringing to the soul
The precious memory
Of another stained-glass
Pretty sanctuary where the
Gospel cut deeply, setting me
Free to live, welcoming you also
To have your breast pierced, to cut
Out our sin so that we can carry within
Jesus Christ’s death, resurrection, and life
